Jo O'Neill

2 and 3 year old's

Jo O'Neill has been involved at Woodside Nursery School for the past 15 years as a co-oping parent, teachers’ aide, substitute teacher, and is now teaching the 3 year old and 2 year old classes.

She has been a leader, teacher and mentor to children through her extensive experience with both Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.

In May of 2006, Jo was awarded the Klem North PTSA Asset Builder Award for her dedication to promoting positive assets at Klem North elementary school.

Recently, she was recognized with a Faith in Action Honoree Award for her work with the Youth Groups and Sunday School children at the Faith In Action Network of Rochester.

Jo graduated Magna Cum Laude from SUNY Geneseo with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics and a NYS Certificate of Qualification in Secondary Mathematics.

Susan Speer

4 year old's

Susan Speer has been a teacher at Woodside for 11 years and this will be her 4th year teaching the 4 year old's. She previously worked as an aid and substitute teacher.

She has been a Sunday School teacher at the United Church of Christ, Congregational for the last 15 years. All but one of those years, she taught the Pre-K to 5th grade classes.

Sue is a registered dietitian and has taught nutrition, science and health-related topics to individuals and groups of children for over 20 years. She continues her education each summer at Hilton Head Island, SC to maintain registered dietitian status. Her focus is childhood obesity and pediatric nutrition issues.

Speaking of Hilton Head Island, it is the setting for a childrens book Sue wrote. It's titled The Missing Bicycle Mystery: An Adventure on Hilton Head Island. It's written for 3rd to 6th graders and available on Amazon.com. She may soon be coming to a 3rd-6th grade near you to discuss the book with its intended readers.

Sue is currently working on another piece of children's fiction, but one that's based on fact. It will be about Webster children from 1900 and will hopefully teach readers local history in an entertaining way.

She is also an Adult Girl Scout volunteer and an alumnus of Woodside. She says Woodside has benefited her as a parent and she truly believes in the program.

Sue earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Rochester Institute of Technology. She graduated with Highest Honors.
